Leading British arts entrepreneur and marketing consultant David Taylor will offer a detailed guide to the many platform choices available to musicians wishing to stream their performances online. Part of Taking Charge of your Performance Career: Performing Online 2020.

David’s starting point for this talk will be to encourage musicians to choose exactly what type of performance they wish to offer, and then to choose a platform accordingly. This highly practical session will explain the different social media, MP3 download and streaming platforms available, comparing their key characteristics as regards musical genre, audience demographics, utility, reach, monetisation and copyright.

Taking Charge of your Performance Career: Performing Online 2020

Music Network presents a special series of five interactive training sessions for professional musicians working in all musical genres. Taking the form of four webinars and one panel discussion, this free professional development course aims to help musicians develop important skills for showcasing their work online. It is just one of a number of ways in which Music Network has supported musicians during 2020.

Delivered by international industry professionals, the course will offer relevant and up-to-date advice in the areas of planning online performances, optimising your audio and video output, choosing a platform, and extending your online practice. Each session will comprise a 60 minute presentation followed by Q&A with participants. Please note that registration is essential to participate in the sessions. The presentations will be made available to view on Music Network’s YouTube channel in 2021.
