Violinist Larissa O’Grady will enthral audiences with a concert for solo violin, including a nature-based art film projection which combines a mixed media sound and visual installation with live performance, on 2nd November at The Dock, Carrick-On-Shannon. Inspired by American composer Michael Gordon’s music for 3 violins ‘Tree-Oh’, this project features the outstanding natural beauty of Lough Key Forest Park, captured by filmmaker Néstor Romero Clemente and a newly commissioned composition by Sam Perkin for solo violin and audio track, among other works by leading composers of contemporary classical music.
Fearless fiddler and bilingual singer-songwriter Clare Sands will take her audience on a musical voyage through uncharted territories on Thursday 4th November at glór, Ennis. Weaving soundscapes of story and song, Clare will play unreleased material from her forthcoming self-titled album of pulsating folk music as well as new traditional compositions alongside residency contributors, guitarist Steve Cooney and visual artist Liadain Ní Bhraonáin.
Songwriter Emma Langford along with collaborators Alec Brown (cello) and Hannah Nic Gearailt (keys) will celebrate the local history and mythology of the Muskerry Gaeltacht with a focus on the highly respected St. Gobnait and Baile Mhúirne’s Sullane river on 6th November at An Ionad Cultúrtha, Baile Mhúirne. Inspired by these magnificent tales, Emma will perform her new macaronic work in English and Irish incorporating elements of electronic, folk and traditional Irish music.
Three additional RESONATE concerts by composer and improviser Philip Christie at Regional Cultural Centre, Letterkenny, guitarist Eamon Sweeney at National Opera House, Wexford, and uilleann piper David Power at Triskel Christchurch, Cork City, will take place in early 2022.
