Music Network presents a new concert broadcast featuring two of Ireland’s most outstanding young musicians, international award-winning violinist Patrick Rafter and acclaimed pianist and former NCH Rising Star Fiachra Garvey. This impressive duo will perform a beautifully-ethereal programme, with César Franck’s romantic Sonata in A major, Eugène Ysaÿe’s intimate Poème élégiaque and Gabriel Fauré’s beautiful Après un Rêve presented alongside the premiere performance of To turn in Circles, a new Music Network commission by the Irish composer Emma O’Halloran.
Presented in collaboration with eight of Music Network’s nationwide partners, the Patrick Rafter and Fiachra Garvey concert broadcast will be available to watch from 16 June – 1 July. Tickets can be purchased on Music Network’s
onjam.tv channel, as well as on a range of online platforms and dates hosted by Waterford Music, Ionad Cultúrtha (Baile Mhúirne), Riverbank Arts Centre (Newbridge), National Opera House (Wexford), Pavilion Theatre (Dún Laoghaire), Music in Kilkenny, Linenhall Arts Centre (Castlebar) and Siamsa Tíre (Tralee).
During the broadcast viewers will also hear from the musicians in interviews hosted by Music Network's CEO Sharon Rollston, and composer Emma O'Halloran will introduce her new work in a short Composer Insight Session.
Individually, Patrick Rafter and Fiachra Garvey are stellar musicians who are making a significant mark on the international stage. Together, their performance promises to more than clear the very high bar that these young musicians have set for themselves.
